When it finds a match, bingo! The OCR software matches\nthat image to its corresponding ASCII character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Feature Extraction\nis OCR that uses computer intelligence to look for general features such as\nopen areas, closed shapes, diagonal lines, line intersections, etc. It\u2019s a much\nmore versatile method, but it has more requirements for a successful outcome,\nsuch as a clean, straight image and minimum 300-dpi resolution. Matrix matching\ncan still work well on less-than-ideal images and it\u2019s what\u2019s most common in\nPDF software.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why Use an OCR?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Increased efficiency and effectiveness of office\nwork.
