The Conversations Shaping the Future of the Channel

Over the last year, one thing has become increasingly clear:
The future of the office technology channel is not being shaped by products alone.
It’s being shaped by conversations.
Conversations happening between dealers and customers.
Conversations between technology vendors and their partners.
Conversations at industry events, customer meetings, executive roundtables, training sessions, and even community gatherings.
At ecoprintQ, we’ve always believed that some of the most valuable insights in our industry come from listening. Not just listening to customers, but listening to the channel as a whole.
And lately, the conversations have been incredibly interesting.

The Industry Isn't Standing Still

For years, people have predicted the decline of print.
Yet when you talk to dealers, software partners, OEMs, and customers, the conversation looks very different.
Print is very important.
What has changed is the role it plays. Today’s customers are not only asking about devices, toner, or print management. They’re asking bigger questions:

How can we improve efficiency?
How can we reduce manual work?
How can we strengthen security?
How can we support hybrid work environments?
How can we gain better visibility into our operations?

In many cases, print is no longer the destination. It’s the starting point.

The conversation quickly expands into workflow automation, document capture, authentication, analytics, cloud technologies, and broader digital transformation initiatives.
That’s not a sign of an industry in decline.
It’s a sign of an industry evolving.

The Best Ideas Rarely Start in a Conference Room

One of the things we love most about this industry is that valuable conversations happen everywhere.
This summer alone, the ecoprintQ team has spent time with partners and customers through charitable events, industry gatherings, customer appreciation activities, planning sessions, reseller meetings, and ongoing collaboration with technology partners. Whether the conversation happens during a business meeting, while supporting a community event, or while preparing for an upcoming industry conference, the common thread is connection.

At the recent What’s Happenin’ Cares Firestone event, dealers, vendors, and industry leaders came together around a shared cause while also discussing the challenges and opportunities facing today’s channel community. The event itself reinforced something we’ve seen repeatedly: some of the most meaningful discussions happen when people step away from formal presentations and simply spend time together.

The same thing happens during customer visits, executive forums, industry conferences, and reseller meetings.
People share what they’re seeing.
They talk about what’s working.
They discuss what’s changing.
And often, they uncover opportunities that weren’t part of the original conversation.

What We're Hearing Across the Channel

While every reseller serves a unique customer base, several themes continue to surface.
Customers are looking for ways to do more with less.
IT teams are being asked to support increasingly complex environments.
Organizations want technology that simplifies operations rather than adding another layer of management.
Security remains a top priority.
And perhaps most importantly, customers are looking for trusted partners who can help them navigate change.
We’re also seeing dealers look beyond traditional opportunities and explore new ways to deliver value.

The conversations are becoming broader, more strategic, and increasingly focused on business outcomes rather than individual products.
That shift creates opportunity for everyone in the channel.

Evolve With a Purpose

These conversations are one of the reasons we chose “Evolve with a Purpose” as the theme for ecoSummit 2026. The event is designed around helping partners understand emerging opportunities, share ideas, learn from one another, and explore where the industry is headed next.
To us, evolving with a purpose doesn’t mean chasing every new trend.
It means staying connected.
It means remaining curious.
It means listening to customers, partners, industry experts, and peers.
It means being willing to challenge assumptions and explore opportunities that may not have existed a few years ago.
Most importantly, it means adapting with intention.
The partners finding success today aren’t necessarily the ones making the most noise.
They’re the ones paying attention.
They’re staying engaged with customers.
They’re investing in relationships.
And they’re continuously learning from the conversations happening around them.

Why Relationships Still Matter

Technology will continue to evolve.
Customer expectations will continue to change.
The solutions we talk about five years from now may look very different from the solutions we discuss today.

But one thing remains constant:
Relationships matter.
They matter between dealers and customers.
They matter between vendors and partners.
They matter between peers across the industry.
Strong relationships create trust. Trust creates conversations. And conversations create opportunities.

That belief continues to drive ecoprintQ’s approach to the channel.
Whether we’re supporting partners through training, collaborating with industry organizations, attending events, building new programs, working alongside technology partners, or planning experiences like ecoSummit, our goal remains the same:
To stay connected to the people and conversations shaping the future of our industry.

Looking Ahead

The future of the channel won’t be determined solely by the next product release, technology trend, or industry headline.
It will be shaped by the organizations willing to stay engaged, remain curious, and continue learning from the people around them.
Because the best opportunities don’t always start with a product.
They start with a conversation.
And from what we’re hearing across the channel, those conversations have never been more important.

Let’s Keep the Conversation Going

The channel continues to evolve, and some of the best opportunities come from sharing what we’re seeing, learning from one another, and staying connected as customer needs change.

Whether you’re exploring new solutions, navigating a customer challenge, or looking for ways to expand the conversations you’re already having, connect with your ecoprintQ Channel Manager. We’re here to share ideas, explore opportunities, and help you continue delivering more value to your customers.
