The Conversations That Mattered Most at ISTELive 2026
Every year, ISTELive brings together thousands of educators, technology leaders, and solution providers to explore what’s next in education.
While the sessions and product announcements are valuable, the conversations happening between them often tell the bigger story.
Over the course of the event, we spoke with teachers, district IT leaders, administrators, and education partners from across North America. Although every district has different priorities, several themes surfaced again and again.
Here’s what stood out.
Teachers Want Technology That Stays Out of the Way
One thing became clear almost immediately. Teachers aren’t asking for more features. They’re asking for fewer interruptions. Whether it was printing a worksheet before class, accessing shared devices, or managing classroom technology, the goal was the same. Technology should support instruction, not compete with it.
The best solutions are often the ones teachers barely notice because they simply work.
IT Teams Are Looking for Simplicity, Not More Systems
District IT teams are managing more devices, more cloud services, and higher security expectations than ever before.
What surprised us wasn’t how often people talked about new technology. It was how often they talked about reducing complexity. Conversations centered around simplifying print management, reducing support tickets, improving authentication, and finding better ways to manage document workflows without creating additional work for already stretched IT teams.
The message was consistent. If a solution doesn’t save time, it probably won’t gain traction.
Every Print Conversation Became a Bigger Conversation
Many of the discussions that started at our booth began with printing. Within a few minutes, they had expanded into broader operational challenges.
How do we secure shared devices? Can we automate document capture? How do we reduce manual processes for front office staff How do we modernize without replacing everything?
Print wasn’t the destination. It was the starting point.
That’s an important reminder for ecoPartners. The most valuable conversations often begin with one challenge but lead to opportunities across security, workflow automation, authentication, and cloud infrastructure.
One Theme Connected Every Conversation
Whether someone worked in the classroom, the front office, or district IT, nearly everyone was trying to accomplish the same thing.
Give staff more time. Reduce unnecessary complexity.
Make technology easier to manage. Those goals may sound simple, but they influence nearly every technology decision schools make today.
Takeaway
The biggest takeaway from ISTELive 2026 wasn’t a new product announcement or a technology trend. It was hearing the same priorities echoed across districts of every size.
Schools aren’t looking for more technology. They’re looking for technology that works together, reduces friction, and gives educators more time to focus on students.
For ecoPartners, those are the conversations worth leading.
